What is the water temperature?
The average water temperature varies between 18 – 26 degrees Celsius. 22-26 during Summer and Autumn. 18 – 23 during Winter and Spring.
Do I need special training or certification?
You only need to hold an Open Water certification or equivalent to go into Fish Rock Cave.
When is the best time of year to dive the cave?
There is an abundance of marine life in and outside the cave all year round. The Grey Nurse sharks tend to congregate around the shallow entrance of the cave between October and December.
Are the sharks always there?
Yes, Grey Nurse Sharks and Wobbygong Sharks can be seen at Fish Rock all year. There are 20-30 Grey Nurse Sharks on an average day and double the numbers during the winter months.
